Outreach

I am passionate about fostering positive relationships between the scientific community and general public. By sharing my passion for science, I hope to encourage others to celebrate curiosity and engage in scientific thought. Below, I highlight some of my recent outreach efforts.

If you are a teacher, organization, or other group that is interested in having me talk about my work, biology, and/or my experiences in science, please get in touch!

Science 'N' Suds:
Monthly Public Sciences Talks

Since 2022, I have partnered with Parsons North Brewing Company in Columbus, OH to organize a monthly series of free, informal science talks called Science ‘N’ Suds. These talks provide an opportunity for the public to engage with science in a comfortable and fun environment, while simultaneously providing local graduate students, postdocs, and professors with a unique opportunity to share their work with the community.

To date, Science ‘N’ Suds has hosted over 50 scientists that have presented on a wide range of topics including genomics, astronomy, psychology, urban planning, ecology, immunology, sociology, physics, and even the science of brewing beer!

If you are in the Columbus area and are interested in presenting at a future science night, please send me an email for more information!

Soundtracks to Science:
A Science and Music Podcast

I recently started a podcast with my good friend and collaborator Drew Schield where we talk about two of our passions: science and music!

Each episode, we chat with a guest scientist about their research, the music they love, and how science and music intersect in their life.
